Dasavatharam : Kamal's 10 roles details
Postproduction and CG (computer graphics) work on Kamal Haasan's magnum opus Dasavatharam, which is directed by K.S. Ravikumar is taking place at a brisk pace in a closely guarded environment at a studio in Chennai under the able guidance of Hollywood experts.According to the inside sources,Kamal's ten roles include that of an ordinary man, a traditional 12th century Vaishnavite called Rangaraja Nambi, a scientist, a 90-year old Brahmin lady who happens to be a dwarf, an eight foot tall giant, U.S president George Bush, a sardarji (who is paired with Jayaprada), a dark skinned man from Thirunelveli, a Chinese martial arts expert and a white man who is a villain. For the first time, Asin plays a dual role in this film. In one avatar, she plays an Iyengar lady draped in a traditional saree opposite Kamal's Nambi character.Towards the end of the film, she appears as a modern girl paired opposite Kamal's character of the ordinary man.Insiders, who got a glimpse of the opening song sequences, sung by Hariharan and set to music by Himesh Reshammiya could not stop raving about Kamal's dedication and the huge amount hard work that went into the film. The thematic song was picturised near the Ennore port and Utthandi on ECR in Chennai. An awe-inspiring set resembling a Vishnu temple was erected on the beach at the cost of Rs 3.5 crore.According to the scene, in the 12th century, king Kulothunga Cholan of Cholamandalam (played by Napoleon) orders his men to throw into the sea, a deity of Lord Ranganathar and Rangaraja Nambi who is an ardent devotee of Vishnu, holds on to the idol.Preparing for a shot, which appears before Kamal's immersion into the sea, the actor was reportedly hanging from a rooftop for around 15 days from 9 am to 6 pm."We felt speechless seeing the actor's energy levels and involvement," commented a unit hand present on location.About 8,000 junior artistes dressed in costumes belonging to the period were used for this song, which was shot over 45 days.Though producer Oscar Ravi was tightlipped about the entire proceedings, he said, "After the movie is released, Kamal Haasan's name will be etched in the history of world cinema for the next 100 years."

Happy Days Review (Manachitram Exclusive)
Telugu industry is now proud to state that its producing some decent movies which are abosolutely away from routine masala and love stories. Recently coming movies are being recognized in the nation wise and direction talents are getting proved by this. "Bommarillu" was well received in 2006. In 2007 its "Happy Days" which is going to see the same success rate. As of now 'Anand' , 'Godavari' are the movies which already brought good name to Shekar Kammula. He has crafted beautiful sweet memories of college life, aims, desires, disatisfcation, freindship, love on the silver screen. He has moved the movie with a positive mindset of college life and touched the hearts. He made everybody to recall their college days. Its getting released on 28th September in US and 2nd October in Andhra pradesh was stated by shekar, and he is too confident about the movie.
The story goes like this, its movie based on guys who did four years engineering, the venue for this movie is CBIT ( Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology), Gandipet, Hyderabad. Chandrashekar allias Chandu is varun sandhesh, Madhu is Tamanna, Tyson is Rahul, Rajesh is Nikhil, Shankar is vamshikrishna, Aparna alias appu is gayatri rao, sangeetha is monali chowdary are they guys and gals who join in first year engineering, after one year they mould themselves to good friends. Shankar falls in love with Sangeetha. Tyson shows interest in sravanthi ( sonia). Rajesh is a flickering guy, he says sometimes he loves lecturer kamalini mukherjee, as she leaves college then starts loving other girl. But Apu has her vision only on Rajesh. First years goes off peacefully apart from small misunderstandings. They become senior as they step into second year. During a rainy evening, chandu comes close to madhu and says that he feels likes kissing her. That will be heard by father of madhu. Having seen her father hearing those words from chandu, she gets crushed under shy. Since then she goes away from chandu. She never responds if he wishes to talk to her. Tyson who sacrifices his computer science seat for shankar, he discloses the ture colors of Sangeetha, he says that she is not a proper match for him. On this issue, there will be conflict between shankar and tyson. Tyson requests sangeetha not to spoil shanakars life. As she is irresponsive he slaps on her face. She discloses this with shankar and rages up shankar on tyson. Shankar with the help of seniors will man handle tyson seriously. After that what happened? did chandu and madhu came together? could shankar recognize the true colors? whats the fate of tyson love story? did apu and rajesh were together? How was happy days concluded? is the rest part of the movie.
This movie is different from regular formula, its crafted as feel good Happy Day's movie. Infact co ordinating these four pairs and moving the film smoothly is not an easy job. He has done wonderful work in directing this movie. Almost all characters in his movie are new comers. Having seen the movie, never we get a feel that its boring at this point of time, Shekar made it very interesting. He worked really hard for directing the movie. First half of movie goes cool and casual with fun, second half will be emotional ones in love story. Chandu requesting her a kiss and her father listening and she avoiding him looks very natural. Chandu teases her by pertending of love with other girl, finally they both come together. Tyson, sravanthi coming together scene is excellent. Tempo of movie is maintained and its heart touching. There are no vilians, lecturers never dominate, no cycle chains are there, no volgarity. He has concluded the film nicely and happily. Its a VERY CLEAN MOVIE.
Analysis :
The film's first half is neat, it did not get the emotional touch of shekar kammula. In the second half he made audiences to stick on to their seats and got everybody connected to the movie.
The movie has some plus points such as direction, music, cinematography and editing. The negatives of the film are the tempo of the film is not contstantly maintained. Anand and Godavari are some of the movies which are female oriented ones. Even the fundamental drive of movie is changed, but still he maintained his direction standards on track. If shekar kammula stick to his standards, then its for sure he can never make a bad film. Its worth to watch Happy Days

Yamadonga REVIEW
Story
Raja (NTR) is a petty thief who abuses Yama Dhrama Raja (Mohan Babu) in an inebriated condition. Yama observes it and makes sure that Raja gets killed in the next few days, though he is entitled for the full life of 100 years. Raja goes to Yamalokam and realizes that he is unjustly killed due to the meanness of Yama. He creates confusion in Yamalokam by stealing Yamapasam as whoever in possession of Yamapasam will become Yama. The rest of the story is all about how senior Yama and Raja try to outsmart each other.
Artists Performance
Mohan Babu: It is nice to see Mohan Babu in full form as Yama. His performance and diction in his introduction scene and interval episodes are extraordinary. He once again proved his excellent dialogue delivery skills with this film. His command on pure Telugu is admirable.
NTR: You will see a new NTR in this film. He very slim and supple. His dance movements are fluid and effortless. The way he moves his body to seemingly unbelievable dance movement in Nachore song is amazing. He looks handsome and suited the Yama get-up very well and his dialogues in pristine Telugu (grandhikam) in Yama get-up are excellent. On the flip side, his hair style is inconsistent throughout the film.
Heroines: Priyamani did the role of main heroine who is the heiress of a crores of rupees but gets exploited by her relatives for money. Her role in this film is little unglamorous. She is just fine. Mamata Mohandas does the role of a masala girl. Though she is alright in that character, her dubbing did not suit the nativity of Nellore dialect. Rambha sizzled in an item song and she is hot. Navaneet Kaur, Preeti Jingyani and Archana did the roles of celestial beauties and appeared in a song. Kushboo did the role of Yama's wife.
Others: Ali contributed a lot to the film in entertainment section. His performance as 'koya bomma' is hilarious. Brahmanandam did the role of Chitra Gupta. Jayaprakash Reddy and Raghubabu did the roles of baddies. Narendra Jha is excellent as the baddie. Naresh suited the role of Naradudu very well.
Technical Departments:
Story - screenplay - direction: The basic premise of the film is a typical Yamagola type. The director added different threads that go in parallel with the main thread. Direction of the film is adequate. He introduced and established all characters well. The screenplay should have been better. Here are the following observations on Yamadonga
The interesting points:
1. The thread of medal. The journey of the medal from the beginning of the film to the end of the film is very well conceived.
2. The heated conversation episode between Mohan Babu and NTR before interval is excellent.
The following points cause a bit of uneasy:
1. Yama characterization: Yama is the short form of Yama 'Dharma' Raju. Yama is supposed to be very fair in whatever he does. But the director has shown Yama Dharma Raju as a mean guy who kills a man to take personal revenge against him. If you look at earlier Yama films, it is Chitra Gupa who does the mistake and Yama tries to resolve the issue. But in this film Yama himself makes mistakes completely aware of it which will make Yama Dharma Raja as Yama Adharma Raja.
2. The premise of having mean family members around heroine is pretty old formula.
The writer seems to have got inspired by the following films to write this story
1. Yamagola: The basic concept of a man going to Yamalokam and coming back.
2. Yamudiki Mogudu: The concept of heroine harassed by uncles for her money. (the dual roles in Yamudiki Mogudu film are replaced with heroine (Priyamani) and Hero character.
3. Maya Bazaar: The Yama character has shades of Ghatodgaja in Maya Bazaar film. The introduction part, Yama embodying himself into lady character etc.
4. Snatch: There is a scene in Snatch film where one guy chases another guy. A visual of cheetah chasing a weak animal is simultaneously shown to get more visual splendor. The same technique is used in this film when hero chases a bad guy.
Art and special effects: These two departments deserve a special mention. The Yama set is glittering like gold and we have never seen filmy Yamalokam in such a visual splendor. The graphics work is extraordinary. They have taken legend NTR from the old movies and inserted in Yamalokam scenes and it is quite believable and NTR's appearance is cheered with thundering applause. The exterior of Yamalokam set is also very good.
Other departments: Cinematography by Senthil Kumar is top-rate. He used the right lighting for all scenes and the camerawork suited the mood of the film. Music by MM Keeravani is another asset. All the songs are good. From the picturization point of view Nachore, Rabbaru Gajulu and Young Yama are excellent. However, the lead scenes to songs are not properly done. Dialogues are adequate (Yama Pasama! Naa Tala Kesama!!) there are some double entendres. Editing is fine. Fights are good. (especially hero intro fight). Production values by Viswamitra creations banner are probably the best ever in Telugu film industry so far. Each frame is visually appealing.
Analysis: First half of the film is entertaining. The second half should have been better. The plus points of the film are Mohan Babu, NTR, sets, cinematography and music. On the flip side, the screenplay of the film is not gripping in second half (after NTR returns to earth). The runtime of the film is pretty lengthy (3.05 hours). Yamadonga is a different film for the mass director Rajamouli. It takes time to sink into the regular moviegoers to know the real verdict.

Chiranjeevi Shankardada Zindabad Review
Story:
In order to meet and impress radio jockey, Jahnavi(Karishma kotak), Shankar Prasad alias Shankardada(Chiranjeevi) dons the guise of a Gandhian Professor, wins a contest, appears on the radio, has a date with Jahnavi, gets to meet Jahnavi's family, consisting of six elderly gentlemen who live at a palatial house called '2nd Innings', and wins a place in her heart. While Shankardada, Jahnavi, and the residents go on a trip to Goa, '2nd Innings' is taken over by builder Raja Lingam(sayaji shinde) , who intends to give this away as a dowry gift for his daughter(Sada), when she gets married to Suresh(Pawan Kalyan). An enraged Shankardada is all set to confront Raja Lingam and seize the house back, but decides to do it the Gandhian way-Gandhigiri.How he influence the lives of many other people with the gandhigiri and wins the love of Jahnavi is the rest of the story.
Highlights:Concept(Rajkumar Hirani) of the film is the very highlight.Setting things right with gandhigiri with evoking the human side of inhuman people is excellent. The concept of the film is of top "class" and is very complex to make it as a movie appealing to all classes(especially in Telugu). Some one with a Mega image can only take it to the masses.Chiranjeevi is successful in doing so with this film. It's a different film for Chiranjeevi too.His performance is of top class.
Prabhudeva did his best to present the film with the exact flavour. Most of the scenes, dialogues are true replica of the original Lage Raho Munnabhai..he is successful in inserting as many as comic elements whenever possible.Though he didn't choreograph the songs...one can see his touch in the songs too.
Music(Devisri Prasad)is good.3 Songs are very good on screen with decent choreography and colourful sets.Paruchuri brothers dialogues are ok(mostly translations).climax scene dialogues are good.First half is good with comedy(college scene is hilarious) and good songs.second half is ok.Climax is good with neat dialogues and the presence of Pawan Kalyan.
Side lights:Heroine is bad.she is not good at either looks or performance.she is not even elegible for a 5minutes of item song in a Chiranjeevi movie.Chiranjeevi looks stout.Audience who have seen Lage Raho Munnabhai aren't fully satisfied with this movie.Etc.., Etc..,
Raviteja,Allu Arjun,Nagababu appears in Jagadeka veeruniki song.Brahmanandam,Gundu Hanumantha rao done the regular roles of astrologers as guru& sishya.MS Narayana,Sunil appears for a while and all of them did their jobs well.
Public Talk: worth watchingIndustry talk:It's a different film for Chiranjeevi with no regular heavy dialogues, fights.Less entertaining compared to Shankardada MBBS..but it won't disappoint anybody who step into the theatre. It will work at the Box Office with the strength of Chiranjeevi and heavy promotion of the producers(Gemini TV).This biggest ever release will grab the max.openings but may not sustain it in the long run.
